GRILLED PIZZA
Grilling pizza is the only way to make pizza. I will never go back to making pizza in the oven. The grill gives the pizza an amazing smoky crispy taste that could never come from cooking it any other way. Give this recipe a try if you are ready to revolutionize your idea of what pizza should taste like. This recipe is more complicated than the others I’ve posted so far. So take care in following the directions so you don’t burn your pizza! (I wouldn’t want that to happen!)
1 package active dry yeast
3 ¼ cups bread flour
¼ cup cornstarch
2 tablespoons olive oil
Additional olive oil
2 teaspoons salt
1 teaspoon sugar
Pizza sauce
Shredded pizza cheese (buy at least a 1 lb bag)
Toppings (onion, sausage, etc.)
Pizza seasoning (optional)
Knife
Add yeast to water and let sit for five minutes and they stir.
Add olive oil, four, salt, sugar, and cornstarch and stir. Once ingredients combined, knead dough for about ten minutes.
Coat dough in olive oil, cover, and let rise for about one and a half hours.
Divide dough until you have eight balls of dough that are even in size.
Store dough in plastic zip bags until you are ready to make pizza.
When you are ready to make your pizza, start the grill.
Grill your toppings until they are at your desired temperature. (We used onion and sausage as our toppings)
While the toppings are grilling, flatten the dough to your desired thickness. (One dough ball is enough for one personal pizza.)
Remove toppings from grill and chop into small pieces.
Toss the flattened dough on the grill. Do not flip.
Once the dough begins to harder on the grill side, remove from grill. (Dough will start to bubble)
Place the dough grilled side up and top with the pizza sauce.
Add cheese.
Add toppings and place pizzas back on grill.
Pizza is done when cheese melts.
Remove from grill and sprinkle with pizza seasoning. Cut and enjoy!
